Mr Areeb Moosavi BSc (Hons) MBBS FRCOphth Consultant Ophthalmologist & Glaucoma Lead, Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Areeb Moosavi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with 18 years’ experience in Ophthalmology and a sub specialisation in Glaucoma.
He obtained a BSc in Physiology from Kings College, London, in 1992, and his Medical Degree from Kings College School of Medicine & Dentistry, London in 1998. His Ophthalmic training included training at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre followed by higher specialist eye training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, including two years as a glaucoma fellow.
Mr Moosavi is currently a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Surgeon at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he set up a new glaucoma service from scratch to serve the local community.
His other roles include College Tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and member of the School of Ophthalmology Board for the Thames Valley Region and also Clinical Audit Lead for Ophthalmology. He is involved in teaching medical students, nurses, and trainees and he regularly attends GP surgeries to deliver educational presentations about eye conditions.
Once a year he is invited by the Local Optometry Committee to deliver lectures for local optometrists, promoting better cohesion between the services.
Mr Moosavi has established a Glaucoma Patient Support Group which takes place twice a year in Milton Keynes, to support glaucoma patients and their relatives; teaching them about the condition and giving advice on how best to manage it.
G Darius Hildebrand MD MPhil DCH FRCSEd FRCOphth FEBO is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Oxford Eye Hospital where he leads the Paediatric Ophthalmology Service. After studying medicine, history and biology at Oxford, Cambridge and in the USA, he completed his ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, followed by Fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Bristol Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Cataract Surgery. He is a Board Member of the European Joint EPOS-ESA Committee for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgery and President of the European Paediatric Ophthalmological Society.
